OBSERVATION OF SEA DEMONSTRATION OF TED ON DT.11/02/2002

Sea Demonstration of T.E.D. was conducted on Dt.11.02.2002 in four Trawlers fitted with and without T.E.D.. Inorder to motivate and giving their(Trawler Owners) personal views, the official of the Institute who designed the T.E.D. model to suit the coastal waters of India and the media persons were present at the time of demonstration in order to convince and interacting themselves to show the benefits and loss for long term Instainability of Fisheries and conservation of the Marine Eco-System. For the purpose, the following no. of personnels from the different sector were involved.

The trawling operation was conducted at a distance of 12-13 Kms from the Shore at an average depth of 15 Fathom. The details of observation at the end of the page.

Form the observation, it reveals that the percentage of fish loss varies from 1.96 to 14.83 with an average of 7.2% and smooth release of turtle in now of the 4 trial made. Hence , it is placed for discussion between the resource persons and users.
